New Books!

March 15, 2014
In the past month I have had two projects funded through Donors Choose, an organization that connects teachers with generous and education-loving donors! I cannot begin to describe how excited I am about receiving all the new materials for my classroom!

When I first sat down to think about what I'd like help providing for my class a million things came to mind but I decided to ask for what's most important, books. The week before spring break we received 10 book and CDs sets with 4 copies of each book, and 4 wireless headphones. Now we will be receiving about 50 books next week to add to our class library.

My library has been such a headache this year. Leading up to my job I gathered books for a variety of grade levels, not wanting to assume I'd end up in first. But as a result, my poor kids have had slim pickings for their book bags all year. I've shopped garage sales, Half-Price Books, and the Scholastic Warehouse sale but what's a new teacher to do? Thank God for Donors Choose.

I will probably ask for 100 more books before the year is out and still buy some every time I walk in a store. Anybody else have that problem??
