"Snow" Day!

March 03, 2014
What better to do on a "snow" day then upload a bunch of products to TpT and write my first blog post?

As a first year teacher, my emotions the past few months have ranged from giddy to depressed. Oh, no, wait, that's how everyone feels! My year's been made eternally easier thanks to countless teaching blogs, TpT, and Pinterest. I decided to join in and share my experiences in the classroom and my not-yet-but-maybe-someday wisdom.

The past few weeks we've been learning how to measure using nonstandard units and also tell time to the half hour in first grade. Both concepts were fairly easy for my students, allowing us to do a few fun activities at the close of each unit!

Are you taller than a 4th grader?
There's this sweet 4th grade teacher who is also a first year teacher that I just looove. She let me convince her to have our students measure each other. So fun and we even made it on the district Web site!

I got the idea from techieteachertime.blogspot.com and my kids were beside themselves with joy (or embarrassment). Naturally my battery started flashing red as soon as we started and I only managed to get 1 good photo before the camera died.

We're getting ready for another 6 week dose of number sense, but also writing nonfiction (including a research project!) and much more. Let the good ideas and good times flow!
